Description: | Cecile Monteux ESPCI (École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles), ParisTech, France Interfacial dynamics and rheology of complex liquid interfaces Friday, November 2nd, 2012, 16:00 Department of Physics Bldg., Voutes, 3rd floor Seminar Room Abstract: The macroscopic properties of liquid foams or emulsions strongly depend on the microscopic dynamics of amphiphiles (surfactants, polymers, particles) that adsorb to these fluid interfaces. I will review some techniques that are useful to characterize interfacial dynamics such as dynamic surface tension, soap film drainage and interfacial rheology. I will present examples where we coupled these techniques to understand the adsorption mechanisms of several complex amphiphiles such as photoswitchable surfactants, polymer multi-layers or hydrophobic particles. |
