Description: | SPEAKER: Prof. Dr. Thomas Heine School of Engineering and Science Theoretical Physics - Theoretical Materials Science Jacobs University Bremen, Germany TITLE: Computer-aided design of new nanomaterials DATE: Friday 22 March 2013 TIME: 12:00 ROOM: Chemistry Seminar Room ABSTRACT Computational Materials Science undergoes a change of paradigm - while it was a tool to explain experimentally found phenomena and to support the understanding of materials and processes in materials, we can now employ its predictive power to design and to tailor new materials. In my presentation I will first illustrate how joint experimental-theoretical research can perform, with examples on highly doped transition metal oxide nanoparticles. In the second part, I will extend the subject on metal-organic frameworks and other framework materials. |
