Description: | SPEAKER: Dr. Julian D. Langer Department of Molecular Membrane Biology Max-Planck-Institute of Biophysics 60438 Frankfurt am Main, Germany TITLE: "Membrane mass spectrometry - from individual membrane proteins to whole proteome dynamics" DATE: Friday, Sept 27 2013 TIME: 12:00 Abstract Mass spectrometry-based analyses of membrane proteins have emerged as a useful tool for the characterization of individual membrane proteins, functional studies of membrane protein complexes, and quantitative analyses of whole membrane proteomes. In my talk I will outline how we addressed the challenges inherent to studying membrane proteins, e.g. poor accessibility to proteases, solubilization issues or low ionization efficiencies. I will focus on several collaborative projects including studies on cbb3 cytochrome c oxidases, COPI-mediated intra-Golgi trafficking, single-crystal MALDI-MS for structural analyses, functional studies on ATP Synthase c subunits and proteome-wide analyses of respiration in Pseudomonas stutzeri and synaptic plasticity in rat hippocampal neurons. |
