Ruth Padel is an award-winning British poet, writer and novelist who first came to Crete in 1971 as a PhD student helping on an archaeological excavation at Knossos. She has been involved with Crete ever since and is currently staying in Hania starting a novel featuring the fate of the Cretan Jews. Her particular interest is making links between literature, history and science: she is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Council Member of the Zoological Society of London. She will talk about her new book on migration from cells to souls and her acclaimed lyric biography of her great great grandfather Charles Darwin. See http://www.ruthpadel.com/
